Our 2010-2011 President is Marco Topete
President Marco Topete currently works at EDCO Waste & Recycling. Marco is involved in Marketing, Sales, and Public Relations at EDCO. Marco’s plans for the club are to create a Face Book page so the club can be in touch with other clubs on line. Also, we will have an on-going food drive for the local Food Banks. We will be more involved with community projects on a monthly basis such as our flag program and local community clean-ups as well as sponsoring a local Little League Baseball team. Plans for the Club’s involvement in the community include partnering with the local organizations such as the Library, Christmas in July as well as with the City of National City on some of their many Community Outreach Programs. We also will work to get new members to join our club. We will work with the National City Chamber of Commerce to gain new members.
National City Rotary has a long history of Community and International service. The club was founded in 1950. Current projects include Thousand Smiles , Ensenada, Annual Foster Children’s Picnic at Admiral Baker Field – San Diego, Bicycles for outstanding middle school students – National City, Grounds Maintainence at the National City Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Sweetwater High MCJROTC – Various Projects -National City, Sweetwater High Students, Financial Support for Individual Academic Needs, Sponsoring a Rotary Exchange Student for the full school year to Belgium and last but not least, participating in Rotary International’s $355,000.00 Polio Plus Challenge program. All of these projects are made possible through club dues and support of our fundraising activities.
Rotary is not a religion nor does it support or show preference for any one religion but it has been said, and truthfully so that “Rotary does God’s work”. That work is never finished so we must not rest. National City Rotary and all of Rotary International is made up of Ordinary People doing Extraordinary Things.
